SU's Peach Named Omicron Delta Kappa National Leader of the Year

SALISBURY, MD---For the past four years, recent Salisbury University graduate Lian Peach has been a campus leader.

Now, the rest of the nation knows that, as well.

Peach, of York, PA, has been named a National Leader of the Year for Service to Campus and Community by the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society (ODK).

“This award is part of what makes graduate school possible for me as a next step,” said Peach, who plans to pursue a Master of Public Administration at the University of Baltimore in the fall. “I am a lover of learning, and so I am so excited for the ability to continue my growth as a student and as a person.”

Peach is a member of the 成人抖阴OK Circle chapter of ODK.

“Lian is that once-in-a-generation student who does not wait for things to happen; she creates opportunities and brings her fellow students along, said Dr. Brian Polkinghorn, ODK 成人抖阴Circle president. “It is precisely this kind of extraordinary leadership that ODK encourages and not only helps to develop, but also recognizes as exceptional and worthy of national recognition.”

At SU, Peach served as chief of staff for the Student Government Association and vice president of the campus’ Food for the Flock food pantry while earning her B.A. in political science. Additionally, she was co-editor-in-chief for the latest edition of SU’s undergraduate research journal, Laridae.

She also helped install 32 free menstrual product dispensers on campus as treasurer of Freedom, Learning and Advocacy for Reproductive Equity (FLARE), SU’s student chapter of Planned Parenthood Generation Action. Through the University’s Presidential Citizen Scholars Program, she helped develop the Period Power Project, addressing period poverty in Wicomico County Public Schools by distributing 1,000 hygiene kits and creating resources for area middle school students.

Beyond campus, Peach completed two internships with Maryland state policy leaders — one with Lt. Governor Aruna Miller and one with Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Jake Day. She also served as a policy lead for the non-profit advocacy organization Dear Asian Youth.
