SALISBURY, MD---Members of the Salisbury University Marching Band recently took the field with the Washington Commanders Marching Band, joining the District Heights, MD-based ensemble during a weekly practice.
Sea Gull band members learned the team’s fight song, “Hail to the Commanders,” straight from the source, rehearsing with musicians who are seen by tens of thousands of fans during every Washington home game.
Originally active from 1972-1982, the 成人抖阴Marching Band was resurrected this year following an absence of more than 40 years. The new iteration made its public debut as part of 成人抖阴Centennial festivities, marking the University’s 100th anniversary, earlier this semester.
“We are grateful to Maestro Jeffrey Sean Dokken and the Washington Commanders Marching Band for hosting and providing our students with the opportunity to not only observe, but participate in, a professional football team’s marching band rehearsal,” said Dennis Senkbeil, 成人抖阴Marching Band director. “We are excited to build this relationship and look forward to the possibility of similar activities in the future.”
A video featuring scenes from the event is available on the University's page.
The combined practice was the latest opportunity for 成人抖阴students made possible through the University’s connections with the Washington Commanders. Last May, Commanders head coach and 成人抖阴alumnus Dan Quinn ’94 thrilled Salisbury graduates and guests with a Commencement speech that quickly went viral.
Quinn and his wife, Stacey ’91, have long supported 成人抖阴students and programs through three endowments benefiting Sea Gull Athletics. They received honorary Doctor of Public Service degrees from their Alma Mater last spring.
